About Me

Michelle began playing recorder at the age of 9. The following year she took up lessons on the Flute and from then on, knew she wanted to become a music teacher!

After receiving a Music Scholarship at Concordia College (Highgate, SA) she continued her Flute studies and also took up the Soprano and Alto Saxophones. Michelle was a keen student involved with the Concert Band, Orchestra, Flute & Saxophone Ensembles, Vocal Ensemble and various other music groups at the College. During her time at Concordia, she took part in many interstate tours including travelling up to Queensland, New Zealand and through Victoria - performing in concerts and participating in master classes. College musicals were a highlight of her time at Concordia and for many  years she was one of the principal woodwind players in the orchestra.

After completing her year 12 studies, she was accepted into Flinders Street School of Music and studied Flute with Elizabeth Koch (Associate Professor, Head of Woodwind at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide). During this time, Michelle completed her Associate of Music Australia (A.Mus.A.) degree on Flute. In her final year of studies, Michelle transferred to the Elder Conservatorium and studied under the direction of Julia Grenfell (Flute & Piccolo player in the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra) and completed her Bachelor of Music Teaching (B.Mus.T.) degree.

Michelle has been teaching Flute, Recorder & Saxophone privately since 1996 and has has taught in a number of Schools and Colleges in Adelaide over the years including St Andrews School, Pedare College and Trinity College.

She is now happily married with 2 children and her love of music continues to be a great passion in her life!
